Burgh Bees – A model for urban beekeeping, Pittsburgh

Hi friends!
Pittsburgh is doing something really awesome. Burgh Bees is a community group promoting and educating local residents about responsible beekeeping and environmental practices. One really special project they’ve got in the works is creating the nation’s first community apiary. What a cool idea! I would love to get something like this going in Boston. I can picture it on the rooftop of an old warehouse in the South End, above artist’s lofts. I encourage you all to check out their website and to contribute some funds to their cause. It’s a really good one. (Thanks for the links, Josh B.!)

Great idea – it is fantastic to see more and more people get interested in beekeeping. It’s incredibly important for the survival of the bees themselves – and good for us humans!

This is a special feeling of a small step of accomplishment for our Apiary. The Tribune Review did an article on us in the Spring of this year; will have to get with an exact date. It truly is an awesome endeavor that we are all expanding from our ancestors. Let’s keep in touch!
